About the BC PNP Tech Program

After a labour market analysis that revealed the greatest challenge facing B.C.’s tech sector was talent access, the BC PNP Tech pilot project was launched in May 2017. B.C. recently announced that the program would be made a permanent one due to its success. BC PNP Tech has been extended indefinitely by the province. It will be renamed BC PNP Tech to enable employers to continue to recruit and select international talent, when skilled workers aren’t available locally.

This program provides fast-track entry for international students and in-demand techno workers. To be eligible for this stream, candidates must have been registered in one or more of B.C.’s provincial immigration streams. They also need to have a job offer valid for at least 12 month in one 29 eligible occupations.

Contrary to other BC PNP streams job offers, the BC PNP Tech requires that they be at least one year old and have at least 120 days left at the time of applying to the BC PNP. The job must be full-time, and it must come from an approved employer in the province.

Weekly invitations are sent via the provincial tech program to the highest-scoring candidates who meet eligibility requirements.

Candidate who are invited to apply to a provincial nomination must submit a full application. Most tech applications will be processed in two to three months after this has been completed.

Candidates will be granted a nomination confirmation if they are approved. This nomination confirmation can be used to submit a permanent residence application for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada under the Provincial Nominee Program.
