International students still need quarantine plan at Canada border

by admin

Canada has relaxed its border security measures but a quarantine plan must be in place at the border.

Travellers who have been fully vaccinated no longer need to be quarantined for more than two weeks. On arrival tests are no longer required for fully vaccinated travellers. Canada considers you “fully vaccinated” only if you have not received the last dose of a vaccine approved by Health Canada within 14 days. These include Janssen, Moderna and Astra Zeneca. You are considered otherwise.

The 9th of August marks the end to hotel quarantine. This is when travellers must pay for a stay at a government-approved hotel.

In case you are denied the exemption, you must still show up at the border with a valid quarantine plan. This fall, the federal government sent a press release to international students who are planning to visit Canada. It reminded them what they should do to get to Canada.

Can I study in Canada?

Two things are required to study in Canada:

A valid study permit or letter of introduction proving that you have been approved to study in the country.

enroll in a COVID-19-ready learning institution. The government website has the most current list.

Students from India will need to navigate the ban. Canada has temporarily suspended direct flights between these two countries until at most August 21. Indirect routes are available for those travelling from India, but they will require a COVID-19 pre-departure test from a third nation before arriving in Canada.

Plan Quarantine

As part of your COVID-19 readiness plan, you should have a plan in place to manage the quarantine period that international students face. They should allow you to access food and medication during your stay. For assistance in creating your Canada quarantine plan, contact your school.

Then, you will need to submit your travel plan to the border officials via the ArriveCAN app. This app is used to submit all documents required for travel throughout the pandemic of officer-traveller communication.

Even if you have been fully vaccinated, you still need to submit a quarantine plan. You will need to provide proof of vaccination in English or French.

Rules subject to modification

Officials from the Health Canada continue to monitor the situation with coronavirus in Canada and the rest of the world. Health Canada is responsible for any changes to the border measures. Other departments such as the Canadian border work to implement the recommendations of the health department.

International travel restrictions are under the control of the federal government, but provincial governments have their own healthcare systems. The federal government provides a list of websites for each province, including information that can be helpful to travellers. Each learning institution will have its own COVID rules.
